Precision Wire sawing
A beautiful basement archway of a Listed building was to be exposed under sky lights as a highlighted feature of a new room.
Unfortunately, water was migrating from the adjacent, newly formed concrete wall. This was threatening the future integrity of the Listed archway.
TCC was able to eliminate this problem without defacing the archway….
-with precision, a 1 cm gap was cut using wire saw techniques through the 500 mm thick wall. The gap was cut tight up against the adjacent wall.
-afterwards, it was possible to pass a polymer membrane through the gap to form a moisture barrier.
Careful alignment of all components and proper tensioning is critical for achieving such a straight cut. It is easy for the wire to wonder and take the pathway of least resistance. This is where the experience of the operative is key.
